The first leg of the annual Dick Herrington Cup on a chilly day had a full house at Decoy with Mid Sussex Angling taking a lead of just under 16-0-0 into the second leg to be held at Wilderness on little Rowfant in two months’ time. On the day Ben Cooke fishing for Hassocks came out on top fishing the pellet waggler for most of the match on peg 13 landing a level 52-0-0 of Carp and just edging Adrian Westgate. He was representing Mid Sussex Angling and drew fancied peg 1, he fished the pole with pellets and corn for just over 49-0-0. Third also fishing for Mid Sussex Angling was Martin Cooper he was drawn next to Ben and managed just shy of 44-0-0.
