Today’s match was a drawn pairs with the peg number deciding whom you were to be paired with. Lew Nightingale drew peg 11 and came out top individual. He started on bomb with bread and landed several Carp before looking down to his left in the margin on the pole. He fed corn and meat and fished meat and picked up four decent Carp for just over 40-0-0, the largest weighing 13-2-0 before returning to the feeder. He finished with nine Carp and three skimmers for 72-5-0 and a comfortable win. He was paired with Dave Harper who was on peg 26, Dave managed five Carp all on bread for 24-15-0 and gave them a combined total of 97-4-0 and the trophy by a margin of nearly 37-0-0. Second individual on the day was Keith Huggins on peg 28 with just over 40-0-0, he had a fast start on the feeder landing three Carp in the first hour before the bites dried up, he then had to wait until the hour and half before he started to catch again and finished with seven Carp and two skimmers. His partner was Colin Ryall on peg 1 and with his five Carp for just over 20-0-0 they finished second in the pairs with 60-7-0. Third was Steve Pead from peg 7 he managed two Carp on the bomb and bread before switching to the pellet waggler for the last hour and half picking up another five Carp the largest weighing 11-11-0 and finishing on just under 39-0-0. His partner for the day was Cliff Prophet on peg 36 who struggled for bites and finished with two Carp for just under 11-0-0 giving them just under 50-0-0 which gave them third in the pairs.
