Darren Chilcott showed how it should be done when everyone else was struggling. He baited his swim heavily with ground bait and dead maggots and when the Bream turned up, he landed 10 in a hectic hour and a half, the largest weighing 4-12-0 on a variety on baits He backed them up with a few silvers and weighed in just over 33-0-0 from peg 11 all on the long pole, giving him a winning margin of nearly 27-0-0. In second on peg 7 was Les Hickman who has started this season with some good results already, he managed just under 3-0-0 of mixed silvers which was the best weight on the day and a Bream of 3-8-0 on pinkies on the long pole for 6-5-0. Rowland Smith completed the top three from peg 5 with a level 4-0-0, he landed the only Tench on the day which weighed 3-0-0 on a worm down to the left margin and his mixed silvers on the long pole and maggots.
