Match Overview
The first match of the new season had a lower turnout than usual mainly due to the regulars being away for Easter Sunday or under orders at home. The six that turned out for the first leg of the Decoy Cup had a reasonable day’s fishing on what was a windy day. The winner was a new member, John Stepton, and this was his first time at the venue. He drew peg 7 and fished the method feeder and the pole picking up several Carp on the tip and a good net of silvers on the pole, he finished down the edge with worm for three more Carp losing just as many to snags. He weighed in 27-3-0 for his five Carp and 12-0-0 for his skimmers and Roach for a total of 39-3-0. Not far behind in second was Dave Larby with a level 37-0-0 from peg 26, he also had five Carp all on the feeder with wafters for 21-13-0 backed up by 15-3-0 of skimmer Bream on the pole and pellets. Steve Pead came third from peg 30 with four Carp, one on bomb and bread and the others on method feeder and wafters for 18-2-0 and nine skimmer Bream for 11-7-0, he also lost a lump on the pellet waggler to a hook pull right on the rim of the landing net which left his rig in the tree behind him.
