Match Overview

The first leg of the Dick Herrington shield saw five anglers a side taking part. A total of twenty-four Carp were landed, and Nigel Jackson managed six on the pole with the largest weighing 10-6-0 and a total of 42-11-0 using his favourite paste and also worm tight to the reeds to give Hassocks a good start. Second on the day was Ryan Smith for Haywards Heath landing seven on bomb and pellets for 31-13-0, and third was Lew Nightingale fishing on the car park bank landing three on the method feeder, casting long on varying-coloured wafters for his 18-9-0 helping to give Hassocks a healthy lead into the return leg. The first leg of the Herbut cup was fished alongside this interclub match with only Hassocks members eligible to take part with the second leg to follow soon.
