View of Badgers Wood lake
Badgers Wood is fishing well

With all the hot weather, fish care is more important than ever, so please think twice before keeping fish – especially larger fish – out of the water for any longer than necessary.

In addition, please make an effort to re-read the club rules with regard to allowed rigs, barbless hooks, and so on. You can find them on the Rules and Constitution page of the website, but the key rules can be summed up as follows:

  1. No barbed hooks, micro-barbs allowed
  2. No bolt rigs
  3. No braided hook lengths

We’ve also noticed that members are leaving the padlocks open on the height barriers at three different waters and that the disabled gate to the causeway at Decoy had been left open. Please close up behind you when you arrive and then again when you leave.

Maintenance West

At Badgers Wood, the aerators have been sorted, swims strimmed and the reeds removed; it’s fishing well, despite the low water levels. There are some good fish coming out of George Cragg, as well.

Maintenance East

The far bank at Masons needs cutting back still, and we’ll be re-instating another swim at the lake. Wildings may have been strimmed by the time you read this and the owner is bringing in a contractor to do the causeway. Note that some of the lower pegs on the main lake are unfishable but others are OK. The Wildings noticeboard has been re-instated, a large NO PARKING sign erected, and the owner has installed three new lifebelts.

Some of the swims at Decoy need their fronts replacing and the maintenance team are on the case and the Rivers Trust have agreed to provide some trees for the lake.

Match reports

There have been a few matches cancelled with clubs keeping net bands on their waters because of the weather, low oxygen and water levels. We’re keeping an eye on all our waters in the light of this. Weights at Decoy continue to be very good.
