Match Overview

A decent turnout for this memorial match with everyone pegged on the front bank. The winner, Mickey Wells, was drawn down the bottom end of the lake which was the favoured end for Carp. He set out targeting Carp and managed to land three but lost a monster which broke the line clip on his reel and still managed to snap his line. His Carp weighed 11-4-0, 10-7-0 and 8-5-0 for 31-0-0 and added a Perch of 1-10-0 and some bits for his 33-4-0, all caught on method feeder. Runner up, Rowland Smith, also targeted Carp and landed the biggest fish of the day with a 14-0-0 specimen on the method feeder and adding some small Skimmers and Roach for his 17-15-0. Third was Mick Newman fortunately landing a last gasp Carp weighing 11-6-0 with five minutes to go using spicy sausage meat on the method to add to his mixed silver fish net for 15-7-0. There were some sizeable Eels landed during the match and some nice Roach. The match raised £75.00 for the charity Paws for Claws which was Robin Wallis’ favourite cause so a big ‘thank you’ to all who took part.
