Match Overview

The last match of the Willey Challenge Cup finally threw up a winner not from either end peg, which is the first time this year. The match was won by Tina Larouche with a nice mixed bag of silver fish. Fishing stick float, then changing to the pole once the breeze became too difficult to present the stick float properly for 6-3-0 all on maggot. Runner up was Norman Cragg, also not on an end peg, fishing waggler down the middle and the right over for the last hour when bites had slowed up for a level  6-0-0 also on maggot. Third on the day was Roger Bulman who drew fancied end peg 10 fishing stick float all day for 5-3-0 mixed net of silvers. The cup was won by Norman by a single point over the three legs with 26 points, ahead of Roger who finished on 25 points and Rowland coming third with 20 points. Over the three matches the difference in weight between Norman and Roger was only 15 ounces in Normans favour, which shows how fair a venue Hamsey is.
