Match Overview

There was a good turnout for the first O.A.P. match of the new season with thirteen turning out at Wildings. Everyone one was pleased to find that the track had been opened the day before which made it easier for us oldies. Unfortunately, it was a colder day than of late with a chilly wind and this probably impacted the fishing. Bites were hard to come by at the start of the match but again the Carp showed up over the last two hours with five being caught, two of them in the last five minutes. Ted Odell who had one of those landed three and won the match by a mile from peg 10, he fished the cage feeder and red wafters for 38-1-0, two of his fish were doubles with the biggest a personal best at 16-9-0. Second was neck and neck between Nigel Jackson on peg 16 and Keith Huggins on peg 17 with Nigel landing a decent skimmer just before the final whistle to just edge out Keith. He fished the pole and maggots for 7-2-0 whilst Keith alternated between the method and cage feeder with maggots for two nice Perch and some silvers for 6-11-0.
