Match Overview

The first leg of the Dick Herrington Cup at Balcombe was a blustery affair with Haywards Heath taking a small 3-1-0 advantage to the next leg. Mark Standen led the way for Haywards Heath with two Bream caught early in the match on the method feeder and wafters for 12-6-0. Second went to Steve Pead for Hassocks who fished the waggler, whip and cage feeder with maggots for just over three pounds of silvers, with fifteen minutes left returning to the waggler he picked up a Bream of just under 8-0-0 on maggots to boost his weight to just over 11-0-0. Third went to Dave Franks also for Haywards Heath with the best silver fish net of the day of 6-5-0 using waggler and maggots. This was also the first leg of the Herbert Cup fished for by Hassocks with Steve leading Dave Franks followed by Dave Larby.
