Match Overview

The weather put most anglers off for this latest round of the O A P matches with both Nigel and Ted turning up but then deciding not to fish. But Steve and Hugh braved the conditions and had a walk off, Hugh decided to fish peg 18 and Steve went to peg 20, both were pleasantly surprised that the wind down at the lake was less than it was at the car park and the rain held off until 10 minutes from the end of the match. Steve had a good day’s fishing landing a 2-0-0 skimmer and some smaller skimmers and Roach and Rudd on both pole and cage feeder with worm over chopped worm and ground bait, but the highlight of the day was a  2-6-0 perch on the pole, which gave him a 8-4-0 at the weigh in. Hugh also managed to catch small roach and a skimmer of 0-12-0 for his 1-2-0 using a combination of feeder and waggler on maggots. The lake was two feet down as it would appear that the owner has lowered the level to protect the severely damaged causeway, it has also created a strong tow on the water which makes presentation difficult on the pole and both the track and the field behind the swims are completely waterlogged.
