On the latest round of the Rose Bowl, Ryan Smith from Haywards Heath, fishing as a guest, showed us how to do it using the method feeder and wafter to land a Carp of just over 7-0-0 and two decent skimmers for his winning weight of 11-4-0. Runner up Tim Brighter also had a Carp, landed on a number 4 elastic of 5-3-0, which was a feat in itself considering the number of lilies at the venue, to go with a mixed net of silver fish for his 10-7-0 net all caught using the pole. Third went to a returning junior of the club, and now a senior, Eddie Ovenden with a mixed net for 5-12-0 on pole and maggot and expander showing that he can still compete at the higher level. The gusty wind early on made fishing the long pole tricky but it was still a pleasant evening’s fishing, With one round to go in a fortnight’s time, the cup is still up for grabs with several anglers still in contention.
