Match Overview

On one of the hottest days of the year so far, five anglers fished the latest O.A.P. match at Badgers Wood. Unfortunately, as expected, due to the bright sunshine and lack of any wind, the Bream did not show up.  Fortunately, the Tench did and Nigel Jackson on his favourite peg three, managed four of them on pole and worm next to the rushes and backed up with some Perch for 13-13-0 to nearly double the weight of his nearest rival. Norman Cragg on opposite peg eleven also found some Tench feeding near the pads in his swim and if he had landed all that he hooked he may well have reversed the result. He landed two but lost another three due to being under gunned as he was fishing a number six elastic close to the pads with worm and maggots, so he did well to get those two out to weigh in a level 7-0-0 with a few silvers thrown in. Third went to Steve Pead who did not find any Tench but caught plenty of small silver fish on the whip and the long pole with maggots for 3-3-0.
