Match Overview
The final match in this year’s Rose Bowl evening series was yet another damp dreary affair with five members taking part. Once again Carp made a late appearance to affect the result with Rowland Smith hooking one in the last ten minutes and managing to land it five minutes after the final whistle, it was a long lean fish which weighed 13-7-0 and was caught on a method feeder with wafter, when added to the 0-8-0 skimmer, his only other fish, it gave him the win with 13-15-0. Also hooking a decent Carp with minutes left was Tim Brightey whist using the pole and maggots on his silver fish rig. He played it for thirty minutes and finally landed it twenty-five minutes after the final whistle, it weighed 12-3-0 but due match rules it was not allowed as it had not been landed within the allotted fifteen minutes allowed after the whistle. This promoted Colin Ryall to second on the night with 8-12-0 fishing the pole and maggots for a mixed net of silvers, third was Darren Chilcott who fished the method feeder for an hour with little success before changing to the pole for 5-7-0. The Rose Bowl was won by Rowland with 43 points over his best five from six results over the series with the Tim unfortunately relegated to second on 41 points due to his Carp not able to count, third a point further back was Colin.
