The fishing was tough with the river still carrying extra water and flow but coming out on top by the narrowest margin was Hugh Neatherway fishing for Hassocks with 1-13-0 which included a personal best Roach of exactly 1 0 0 all caught on the stick float and maggot. Runner up was Nigel Jackson also for Hassocks just 1 ounce behind with 1-12-0 of small Roach and Perch using whip and pole with maggot, He also lost a large fish at the start of the match on the whip and a 24 hook with single maggot. Third fishing for Haywards Heath was Dave Franks with a similar net of fish for his 1-6-0, on the day Hassocks came out on top with 3-9-0 against Haywards Heath 2-1-0.
