Welcome to the new-look Notices section. Instead of individual notices that are replaced when we add the next item, we’ll be simply adding them to the noticeboard so they stay visible for longer. Off we go, then.

  • A young member thinks they left some precious gear at or near the car park at Wildings on June 2nd. The set up consists of x2 Fox mini micron X bite alarms, x2 white Fox bobbins, all on a buzz bar and bank stick. The back rod rest had 2 Nash butt locks on a buzz bar and bank stick. He’d saved long and hard for this gear and would love to get it back!
  • A member found a rod tip in the far corner under the big oak and has left it on the sill of the noticeboard. If it’s yours, that’s where you’ll find it!
  • From time to time, you may be asked to tell a rambler or dog walker the padlock code – please don’t. The codes are in place to protect our fishing stocks and restrict access to the land around our waters. We’ve been made aware that this happened recently at Masons. Many thanks!
  • There will be construction work happening over the next few weekends on the causeway at Decoy until the back filling is completed and therefore those swims will be off limits; there’ll also be some disruption, so it might be an opportunity to try a different venue. Thanks.
  • Although the track down to Oldmans lake is currently open, please be aware that if there’s a significant period of rain, it will be closed and you’ll have to park in the designated car park and NOT in front of the containers. If that happens, you’ll see a sign that says the track is closed. Thanks for your co-operation.
  • The owner at Wildings has asked to make it clear that anglers are not touch or take the goose eggs that have been laid; please leave them be.
  • If you fish More House Farm, the procedure for getting into the fishery has changed. Please watch the video on the More House Farm Facebook page here.
  • Currently, the tracks down to the lakes at Oldmans and Wildings are open again.
  • Again we have to remind you to ALWAYS PADLOCK GATES WHEN YOU LEAVE a fishery. One of the gates at Decoy was left open last Saturday night. Locking gates keeps poachers from plundering our waters.
  • Another reminder that every member should do everything they can to leave no trace when they go fishing. Recently discarded hooks, line, pliers and bits of rubbish have been found along the banks of the Adur in the Frylands section. These were found by the landowner and is the kind of behaviour that could easily lose us the rights to fish that section of the river. It’s also important to stick to the banks when moving around on the Adur as the farmer has various areas of hay which are used by grazing livestock – trampling through these also causes problems.
  • Same thing happened at Decoy where a match angler found a length of braid discarded on the bank. Braided hooklengths are banned.
  • Don’t forget that the annual close season for coarse fishing on rivers and streams in England is in place from the 15th March and runs right through until 15 June inclusive.
  • If you find a broken lock at one of our fisheries, please call Roy Fisher on 01444 235978 so he can replace it. Padlocks are the best way of keeping out poachers, so help us out by letting us know if one’s broken. And always lock the padlock again when you leave. Thanks!
  • After consideration we’ve decided to re-instate the Parking Permit and these have been emailed to all members. Please check the Spam/Junk folder of your email program if you haven’t received yours. These should be displayed on your car dashboard whenever you fish a club water. Just right click on the permit image with your mouse and then save it. You can now print it out in colour or black and white – either version is fine. Thanks!
  • Can we remind all disabled anglers using Decoy that they must shut and lock the barrier when leaving the car park. Thanks!
  • Please note that peg 14 at Wildings is severely undercut so until it’s fixed, probably best to fish a different swim.
  • Please be aware that the track at Masons lake that leads to the car park is very rutted and slippery due to the recent rain, so please take care.
  • Please note that we no longer have access to the stretch of the Adur upstream of Wineham bridge. The landowner is selling the land.
  • “Magic Twig’ rig – this new carp rig is currently not permitted for use on any Hassocks water until we’ve had a chance to evaluate its safety properly. Please don’t use it – there are plenty of other ways to catch a carp!
