Match Overview

The Society Cup was won this year by Dave Franks who surprised everyone who took part by managing to land two Carp from a swim just above the weir pool which gave him an easy victory. His first Carp weighed just under 5-8-0 with the second, forty minutes from the final whistle weighing 18-8-0, which was a personal best. He also had a small Trout for 24-1-0 all caught on feeder and three maggots. Second, and slightly disappointed was Hugh Neatherway who landed a Carp of 7-4-0 early in the match on the waggler and maggot from below the weir thinking he would probably sew the match up. Two anglers shared third with Nigel Jackson landing a Trout and a Minnow for his 0-6-0, unlike Steve Pead, also with 0-6-0 which consisted of over 50 Minnows.
