Membership Matters
We are pleased to advise you that as from 1st of March we have been open to new and renewing members. Please follow the instructions with regard to the application process and if you have any problems please contact either, Greg Brown, our Treasurer, or the Club Membership Secretary, Jean Fisher.
The best advice we can give is, if you think it hasn’t worked first time don’t do it again but ring somebody – otherwise you could end up like one of our members who kept repeating the application which resulted in him paying three times for his one membership! Needless to say he got his money back.
For any new members whilst we can take applications at this time we would stress that you can only commence fishing on 1 April.
When you apply you will receive an introductory email which will give you the gate codes. We change the gate codes annually for security purposes and the new code will take effect from 1 April. Until then please use the existing code. Clubmate are sending out membership cards which also show the gate code. Unfortunately we have been made aware that the cards are showing last year’s code. Clubmate have been told of their error and we are hoping they will reissue the cards- if not please amend them manually.
Members Handbooks
As we are now in the digital age all the club rules and other information are on the club website. However we do have a number of Members Handbooks which we acquired before we moved over to Clubmate. If you would like a Handbook please send a suitably sized SAE to Jean Fisher, 38 Western Road, Burgess Hill, RH15 8QN. We would point out that the Books were discontinued in 2021 so whilst the majority of the information is correct it is not up to date with regard to any rule changes since 2021 and won’t list any waters we have added since then or waters we have lost. You can also collect a book from Jean if you prefer.
Training days
We will shortly be publishing details of the 2023 Training Days which in the past have been extremely popular. The idea of the Training Days is to promote the sport of angling amongst ALL members of society, not just youngsters. During lockdown a number of people took up fishing for the first time or decided to return after a long break, so if you need some help or tips please feel free to come along. Full details of the dates will be published shortly and you will need to book a place through Nigel Jackson. We have one fully qualified Angling Trust Level 2 coach plus a wealth of experience and if available Nigel Jackson does offer one to one training. You will need to contact him to arrange this. You will be surprised how a couple of minor tweaks to your tackle and tactics will improve your catches.
Also if any members have children or grandchildren who are interested please bring them along. Full, details are available from Nigel.
Wildings
The owner of Wildings has once again complained about an individual defecating in the woods close to peg 1. There is no clear evidence that it was a club member but obviously we do not wish to upset our land owners. As a general rule if you do get caught short and need to do a number two please bury it along with any paper etc. A small trowel in your tackle bag will do the trick.
100 Club
The March draw was won by Rob Webber. Well done Rob.
